Why
The raspberry’s structure works in its favor: it is soft, hollow and collapses easily between the gums, with none of the smooth round shape that makes blueberries and grapes risky. The little seeds are harmless and pass through. Allergy is uncommon, though a mild red rash around the mouth occasionally appears.
How to serve it safely
Offer very ripe, soft berries as they are, flattened if unusually large, or mashed into yogurt and oatmeal. Rinse just before serving and check for mold — raspberries spoil fast. Very tart berries can be stirred into something creamy.
Warning signs to watch for
Redness around the mouth after raspberries is usually harmless acidity. True allergy signs would be hives, swelling or vomiting.

Common questions
Do raspberry seeds bother babies?
They are tiny and soft, and most babies never notice. You may spot seeds in the diaper — that is normal and means nothing is wrong.
My raspberries are quite firm. Serve anyway?
Squash them lightly with a fork first — a quick press turns even firmer berries into a beginner-friendly texture.
Can raspberries cause a diaper rash?
The seeds and acids can irritate on the way out in some babies. If you notice a pattern, it is a harmless reason to space servings, and worth mentioning at your next checkup.
